How does the Teeth Whitening process work?
Cosmetic Consultation
First, Dr. Grossman will meet with you to discuss all of your cosmetic dentistry options, and determine if teeth whitening is right for your needs and your budget.
In-office teeth whitening
In-office whitening is done by Dr. Grossman and our dental team. Dr. Grossman will protect your teeth and gums, then apply a powerful whitening compound to your teeth. He will use a UV light to activate it. Then, he will rinse it away and repeat this process until your smile reaches your desired brightness.
Take-home teeth whitening
For take-home whitening, Dr. Grossman will take impressions of your teeth, then work with a dental lab to build a set of custom whitening trays. You’ll come back to Indian Valley Dental to pick these up, along with a set of whitening products. Then, you can treat yourself at home, and get professional-grade results on your own schedule.
Teeth whitening Options
in-office teeth whitening
In-office whitening offers fast results, and is ideal if you want a brighter smile for a wedding, business conference, or any other event. With in-office whitening from Dr. Grossman, you can brighten your smile by up to 5-10 shades in just a single appointment. Most patients can transform their smiles with one treatment session, though people with severe stains may require multiple treatments to reach their desired level of brightness.
take-home teeth whitening
Take-home teeth whitening offers the same results as in-office whitening. But instead of getting treatment from Dr. Grossman, you can whiten your teeth at home at your convenience. Most people whiten their teeth for about an hour a day, and it takes 2-3 weeks to see maximum results. Some patients even prefer more gradual results, as this makes it less obvious that they have had their teeth whitened.

How long does teeth whitening last?
Depending on how well you care for your teeth, your results will last between 1-2 years. We recommend brushing and flossing regularly, visiting Dr. Grossman for a checkup every six months, and avoiding staining beverages like coffee, tea, or wine. Drinking these with a straw can also help reduce tooth stains. You can also use ADA-accepted whitening toothpaste and mouthwash to keep your smile bright. We also offer touch-up treatments at Indian Valley Dental. So if your teeth are starting to look a little less bright, we can whiten them again and keep your smile looking its best.
Does teeth whitening cause sensitivity?
Yes. Teeth whitening causes some sensitivity in most patients. This is temporary, and will go away within a few days once your treatment is over. To deal with whitening-induced tooth sensitivity, we recommend avoiding really hot and cold foods and drinks, and using Sensodyne or a similar anti sensitivity toothpaste.
