what to expect: the crown process
Initial Consultation
First, you’ll need to see Dr. Grossman for an appointment at Indian Valley Dental. He will examine your mouth and determine if crowns are the right choice for your unique situation.
crown preparation
Once you’re approved for a crown, you’ll come back for a follow-up appointment. Dr. Grossman will clean and numb your mouth, then remove any damaged enamel. This creates a stable platform for your crown. Next, he will take impressions and scans of your tooth, then place a temporary crown over it to protect it.
building your crown
You’ll be sent home, and Dr. Grossmann will work with our partner dental lab to build your crown. Your crown will be carved out of tooth-like porcelain that matches your existing teeth perfectly. This usually takes 2-3 weeks.
final crown check & placement
Once your crown arrives at our office, you’ll come back for one last appointment. Dr. Grossmann will remove your temporary, then check the fit of your final crown. Once everything looks perfect, he will bond your crown in place permanently. You’ll be sent home to enjoy your beautiful, healthy smile.

You won’t feel any pain or discomfort. And, once your tooth has been restored with your permanent dental crown, it will be stronger and more durable than ever.
can I get a cosmetic crown?
Dental crowns are sometimes used for cosmetic dentistry. However, this involves removing more enamel than other treatments like veneers and bonding. Crowns are also usually more expensive, so they're only recommended when other cosmetic treatments aren’t suitable for restoring your smile.
